15px;'>彩鹮在中国的数量本来就不多，分布地区又十分狭窄，前些年，由于它们赖以生存的湿地和沼泽等适宜觅食和繁殖的栖息地缩减，导致连续多年未在我国观测到彩鹮踪迹，《中国濒危动物红皮书》一度宣布彩鹮在我国绝迹。自2009年开始，才逐渐在中国境内有了其踪迹。属于《华盛顿公约》CITES附录Ⅲ物种；2021年被国家林草局列入国家一级重点保护野生动物名录。</span></section><section
